113. Peaks and Troughs
We live in dark, dark times
Me and myself.
Watching ships go by
Life's on the shelf.
Draining life away
On my own.
Another wasted day
Sat at home.
Smoking and drinking is all there is to do
Your bank is empty and there's no life in you
Trying to dust yourself off
You fall once again
Living in peaks and troughs.
In your own darkened room
Your thoughts are mine.
Listening to your favourite tunes
Your far from fine.
You feel alone
I feel the same.
You waited for that bone
To be threw to you.
But it never came.
Watching light flicker through the neon screen
Your mind speaks in acidic tongues.
You say what you always mean
But I'm only abusing my own liver and lungs.
Salvation falls by the wayside
You want out.
I'm merely Tantalised.
We need to scream out loud.
Smoking and drinking is all there is to do
Your bank is empty and there's no life in you
Trying to dust yourself off
You fall once again
Living in peaks and troughs.
And all your life you dream of a better you
Even though you find it, it's stuck with the hardest glue.
People say that they are there, too.
But you feel lobotomised; You don't want to move.
The days drift by with not much done
You wonder why you carry on.
You make an arse of yourself at a moment of madness.
You're left alone, with me; your own conscience.
I'll berate you and challenge you at every turn,
I'll fuck you up from the inside and watch our shared mind burn.
Stop me, if you feel that it's just possible.
I'll keep you awake just long enough;
For you to suffer at your every choice you make
And when you wake up in the morning, with an age old face
You'll know that your too far removed from what you think is reality.
You'll have to take those meds to keep us in sanity.
Smoking and drinking is all there is to do
Your bank is empty and there's no life in you
Trying to dust yourself off
You fall once again
Living in peaks and troughs.
